Position: Web Developer (NSGEU Local 79) (1 Year Contract)

Department: External Affairs, Office of Advancement

Annual Salary: $46,011- $56,243 (Group 8)

Under the direction of the Manager of Digital Experience, the Web Developer develops and maintains the Saint Mary's University web site for campus departments and provides training assistance and support to the university community for the web site and associated technologies.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Duties as the Web Developer include, but are not limited to:

  • Develops and maintains web site design and layout requirements.
  • Meets and collaborate with clients regarding website development, requirements, content, navigation, technology and brand identify.
  • Prepares mock-ups and story boards, when required.
  • Creates graphic aspects of site in accordance with brand identity and standards.
  • Implements requirements identified in web development through to final product.
  • Liaises with clients regarding design elements.
  • Takes photographs and/or video as required.
  • Backs up website material and supporting documentation as per University and web standards requirements.
  • Performs content changes on sites not implemented with a content management systems.
  • Performs technological updates as required.
  • Liaises with ITSS groups as required.
  • Researches web technology and provides solutions and recommendations for client requirements outside current practices and/or technologies.
  • Researches and evaluates a variety of related software products.
  • Provides training and technical support for campus groups; facilitates workshops and provides orientation and training for faculty and staff on web content administration and university web standards.
  • Identifies training requirements and create training aids.
  • Provides second-tier support for web implemented technologies and direct clients to appropriate sources when required.
  • Works with clients to identify issues and problems; research and implement solutions.
  • Other duties as required

What you'll need

Qualifications

To be the successful Web Developer, you will have completed a two (2) year Community College program in Information Technology and possess a certificate in Web Technologies or equivalent. You will also have a minimum of two (2) years of directly related experience. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and excellent organization skills with attention to detail will ensure your success in this position. A demonstrated ability to build strong positive relationships with internal and external customers is essential.
