St. Thomas University invites applications for the position of Varsity Athletics: Head Therapist, Department of Athletics for the 2021-2022 season.

The Varsity Athletics, Head Therapist is responsible for the overall health and welfare of varsity athletes and teams with a particular emphasis on prevention, assessment, and treatment, as well as coverage for practices, games, tournaments, and championships.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for providing direct athletic focused therapeutic care, in collaboration and consultation with other athletic therapists, health care providers, and team physician; and will commit twelve (12) hours per week to an athletic therapy clinic for STU athletes in the J.B. O'Keefe Centre.

This role will be required to communicate with coaches, athletics administration, and team trainers with respect to player health issues, as well as complete all related administrative tasks, such as document athlete's treatment or referral, manage online medical forms, provide updates on the status of athlete training, and ensure that athletes are cleared for play.

This position will review and update Emergency Action Plans for all athletics facilities and ensure appropriate levels of medical supplies and kits are on hand for all teams.

Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience.

It is important to note that due to the varied nature of university athletics and game day operations the successful candidate must be available evenings and weekends. Travel to games, tournaments, and championships may be required (travel costs are covered).

Qualifications

Physiotherapist registered with CPTNB or Certified Athletic Therapist. Please ensure applicable certifications and documents are submitted with your application.

Established in 1910, St. Thomas University is a primarily undergraduate, liberal arts institution with a full-time enrolment of 1600 that offers a Bachelor of Arts, Applied Arts, Education, and Social Work and a Master of Social Work.
