We are currently hiring for a Utility Technician I. This regular opportunity, in the Engineering and Technology Services Department, has full time hours.

As a Utility Technician I, you will:

  • Be responsible for the operation, maintenance, interrogation and configuration of the various SCADA Monitoring Systems throughout Halifax Water.
  • Install, maintain and calibrate instrumentation, radio communication equipment, master meters, booster stations, generators and other associated electronic controls in the system.
  • Perform maintenance to water boosting and fire pumping equipment.
  • Support Wastewater staff in the operation of various pumping and treatment systems.

To do this job, you need to have:

  • Grade 12 plus an Electrical / Electronic Engineering Technologist Diploma (or equivalent technical certificate from a recognized educational institution).
  • A minimum of five years related experience; including PLC programming and networking, systems integration, and HMI (Human Machine Interface) applications.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • The willingness to obtain a Water Distribution Operator Certificate -Level 2.
