The Scotiabank Centre, managed by Events East Group, is now inviting applications for Ushers with our Guest Services team. The largest multipurpose facility in Atlantic Canada with a seating capacity of more than 10,000 and the versatility to accommodate a range of events, Scotiabank Centre hosts between 450,000-500,000 attendees each year and is home to the Halifax Mooseheads, the Halifax Hurricanes, and the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo. As a vital part of these operations, our Ushers provide excellent customer service to all event guests and are responsible to ensure a safe and comfortable experience.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Answer guest inquiries & questions, with a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Direct event guest to their seats, ensuring that guests are in the correct seat/location.
  • Offer additional assistance to guests as needed (i.e. holding open doors, etc.).
  • Ensure assigned areas are free of refuse or any articles that may be hazardous.
  • Monitor areas for situations that may pose a risk of danger/security to other's experiences.
  • Act as a liaison between guests and supervisor(s) to deal with concerns as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must be flexible to work a variety shifts as driven per event schedule (mostly evenings and weekends, but may include days and weeknights).
  • Enthusiastic, friendly, dedicated individuals who are passionate about providing high-quality customer service.
  • Strong communicators with above-average levels of professionalism.
  • Team players who are eager to work well with others, proud to be an ambassador of Events East and our region.
  • Able to meet required physical/cognitive demands for stationary/mobile postings over long periods of time (i.e. standing, walking, moving up/down stairs, exposure to crowds, emergency response, etc.)
  • Must be available to be scheduled for shifts at all hosted event types, in accordance with a rotating shift schedule.

Scotiabank Centre is located on Brunswick Street in the heart of downtown Halifax, just below the old Town Clock and Halifax Citadel National Historic Site.

The facility opened in 1978 as Halifax Metro Centre and in September 2014 transitioned to Scotiabank Centre.
