Thermalite, formally Downeast Plastics Ltd, is looking for motivated, energetic and adaptable people to join the team in their Cap-Pelé plant. Thermalite has been in operation since 1982 and is currently experiencing strong growth.
Truck Driver:
Truck driver report directly to the Shipping Operations Manager and will be work closely with the dispatcher and receiver in performing his/her duties as required. This job requires a teamwork effort, it is mandatory to be flexible at all times. Drivers will operate heavy trucks to transport goods and materials over urban, interurban, provincial and international routes. This code defines two distinct types of truck drivers. A "Straight truck" weighs over 4,600 kilograms and usually has an attached enclosed box, flat bed, and dump bed or bulk container. A “Tractor trailer” or “Long haul” trucks are designed to haul trailers in some instances they may be used to transport goods within Canada and the USA, but most frequently they are utilized for inter-provincial and international shipping.

Job requirements
- Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks weighing over 4,600 kg with two or more axles to transport goods and material to destinations
- Oversee all functions of vehicles, such as condition of equipment, loading and unloading, and safety and security of cargo
- Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
- Record cargo information, distance traveled, fuel consumption and other information in log book
- Receive and relay information to the dispatcher
- Drive as part of a team or convoy
- Transport hazardous products or dangerous goods with an approved permit
- Drive lighter, special purpose trucks when asked.
- Do pre trip safety checks on trailers
- Perform shunting duties when required
- Move trailers from certain locations when specified
- Take a ferryboat to access some customers.
Education
Class 1 drivers license
Experience
At lease 5 years experience

Terms and Conditions
The following terms and conditions will apply to tractor-trailer or long-haul drivers:
- Driver will be paid by weekly salary based
- Drivers expense will be paid for while on company deliveries.
- Drivers may be required to drive in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions.
- Depending on the products being transported, truck drivers may also be responsible for loading and unloading cargo.
