What you'll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of IT Services, the Tier II Technician is responsible for providing excellent customer service by resolving single user break fix issues related to desktop hardware and software installation and/or configuration. As a member of the IT Services team, you will provide support to restore normal service as quickly as possible to staff, instructors and students.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to providing user services remotely or in person and communicating information to the user; setting up and installing computer equipment and software; and ensuring that workstations are ready for end users. The incumbent will assist all users with network related problems, repairs, and troubleshoot all computer equipment and software at the College; update the incident management system with all details of the investigation and what has been done to resolve the user issue; collect inventory/asset information for all NBCC devices; and adhere to all service management best practices. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

Required qualifications for this opportunity include a two-year Diploma from an Information Technology program and a minimum of two (2) years of recent and related experience in software and a variety of computer hardware. Comptia A+ certification will be considered an asset. The successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.

Written and spoken competence in English is required.

Preference may be given to candidates who have experience working/teaching in a post-secondary environment.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

NBCC offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that includes a competitive salary for this position ranging from $1,613 to $2,249 bi-weekly. This position is a unionized position where the terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NBUPPE - Information Technology collective agreement for the College.
