Halifax Water is inviting applications for one (1) Term, Full-Time Process Technician (Float) based out of the Mill Cove Wastewater Treatment plant. Halifax Water believes a diverse workforce positively contributes to its success, and the success of our community. The Process Technician is a technical, team-oriented position requiring the appropriate knowledge and hands-on skills to operate, maintain, repair, and service wastewater treatment assets. The successful incumbent will administratively report to the Mill Cove Wastewater Treatment Supervisor but will be required to work at any of Halifax Water's Wastewater Facilities on an as needed basis. Working hours will be 8:00am - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

This position is responsibile for the operation and maintenance of Halifax Water wastewater pollution control facilities, biosolids handling facilities, leachate treatment facilities, and associated infrastructure. As a member of a treatment facility team, assists in ensuring compliance with Federal/Provincial regulations and public/staff health and safety. This is a technical, team-oriented position requiring the appropriate knowledge and hands-on skills to operate, maintain, repair, and service wastewater treatment assets.

Qualifications

The minimum qualifications include grade 12 plus a two (2) year community college technical program, applicable to wastewater treatment or related discipline. The successful incumbent must successfully complete the Operator-in-Training wastewater certificate within six months of date of hire and pass the Level 1 Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Labour (NSEL) Wastewater Treatment examination within 12 months of the date of hire. An equivalent combination of industry recognized wastewater treatment, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or instrumentation training and experience may be considered. The successful incumbent must also have a valid NS Driver's license and be willing to use their own vehicle.
