Acadia seeks a Systems Administrator in Technology Services to support the university's IT infrastructure. Reporting to the Manager, Infrastructure & Media Systems, the incumbent will implement identity management, access control, and group policy using Active Directory/Microsoft 365 and Linux platforms. Working within the Technology Services team, specific responsibilities of the position will include:

  • Perform secure server configuration and hardening, measuring against industry standard best practices and security baselines.
  • Assist with planning and design processes with regards to virtualization, cloud computing, and physical server resources.
  • Contributes to continuous process improvement and automation.
  • Procurement, planning, installation and maintenance of servers and storage equipment.
  • Installing system software (operating systems, application, and utility software).
  • Maintain awareness of industry best practices to stay abreast of technology evolution, software revisions, bug fixes, and to obtain product information.
  • Monitor and enhance system performance and security measures.
  • Administering user accounts and daily server backups.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • We are seeking a candidate who has a Bachelor of Computer Science or equivalent education with experience and skills in the following areas:
    • Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint administration
    • Server hardware/software installation and repair
    • Programming in administrative languages (e.g., Windows PowerShell, VB Scripting, PHP, C#)
    • An excellent understanding of Active Directory
    • MS SQL server administration
    • TCP/IP Networking knowledge
  • The applicant must have demonstrated problem solving, consultation, analysis, and collaboration skills with the ability to handle parallel projects and priorities.
  • The successful candidate must be a team player who has excellent interpersonal, time management and communication skills with an ability to both apply policy and take direction.
  • Applicants must be able to work a flexible schedule which may at times include early mornings, evenings, and weekends. 

THE REWARDS: Acadia offers a comprehensive benefit package and a starting salary to commensurate with qualifications and experience in the range of $50,328 - $61,637 per annum (AUPAT Level 5).
