Halifax Water is inviting applications for one (1) Regular Full-Time Supervisor, Water Supply Plants at the Lake Major WSP in the Operations Department. The Supervisor is responsible for the management and operation of the assigned treatment facility, staff, pumping station, dams and ancillary assets.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • This position is directly responsible for the overseeing the production of Water that conforms with Canadian Drinking Water Guidelines, Operating Approvals, other regulations, and targets as applicable.
  • Establish operating targets and plant procedures for operation and maintenance to ensure that water quality goals are achieved.
  • Supervise the operation of the plant treatment process.
  • The Supervisor is directly responsible for the day to day operation and maintenance of pumping and treatment facilities, including staffing, time and schedule management, chemical inventory management, preventative and reactive maintenance
  • Utilize computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and maintaining an appropriate spare part inventory.

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications for this position include a two-year technical program related to Water Treatment or an equivalent combination of related formal education and experience in a water treatment environment may be considered.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in a water treatment environment, and minimum of 2 years of direct supervisory experience in a water treatment environment or related discipline. Demonstrable experience in a leadership position or lead role may also be considered.
  • In addition, one must possess Class lll or IV Water Treatment Operator Certificate (depending on plant requirements).
  • Hold valid NS driver's license.
