In this role you will interact with the Steel Procurement Team along with internal departments and external suppliers to ensure an uninterrupted supply of raw materials in order for the production team to be able to manufacture finish products, while providing quality materials, minimizing costs and inventory levels as well as delivering on time.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Procurement and purchase order management:

  • Create and manage purchases with Internal Partners, including helping in maximizing the use of steel coils between companies.
  • Create slitting orders to support internal customers.
  • Follow min/max and demand requirements to determine the optimal setups.
  • PO acknowledgements validations (price, quantity, timing).
  • Following-up on inbound orders and their expected production and arrival.
  • Shipment packing list verifications to match materials to PO.
  • Pre-receiving inventory
  • Supplier document management.
  • Manage documents sent ahead of shipments and request missing documents.
  • Loading mill certs into the apporiate tools

Inventory management:

  • Coordinate coil logistics .
  • Direct coils (import and domestic) to their destination based on requirements.
  • Aid in managing exceptions.
  • Work with various Team Member to manage coil movements (Logistics Team, internal companies, or departments, etc.)
  • Consignment inventory tracking and reporting to vendors.
  • Make sub-inventory transfers as required to manage coil ownership.
  • Global coil inventory reconciliations.
  • Steel coil list management (update available inventory).
  • Tansfers of master coils to other sites based on requirements
  • Weekly coil forecasting updates
  • All other related tasks

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • University degree or college diploma in business administration or related field is an asset
    • Designation Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or working towards a designation is an asset
  • Minimum of two years related work experience
  • Equivalent experience and/or education will be considered
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with external and internal customers
  • Experience in purchasing and excellent negotiations skills required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Product knowledge an asset
  • Attention to detail required
  • Excellent computer skills, knowledge of Word and Excel
  • Bilingualism an asset
