Events East is now inviting applications for the position of Sous Chef at the Halifax Convention Centre. This position is responsible for ensuring guest satisfaction through the delivery of outstanding culinary experiences at the Halifax Convention Centre.

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Executive Chef, and working collaboratively with the Executive Sous Chef, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring effective and efficient delivery of culinary production, provide administrative support, and facilitate the development of culinary talent within the organization. Effectively training and coaching new and existing culinary members will be essential as Events East moves forward with continued operational growth. As such, the Sous Chef will have the ability to garner support through demonstrated knowledge of culinary arts and possess a leadership style will create enthusiasm and a desire to exceed and already high standard in culinary excellence. Additionally, you will have an understanding of the budgeting side of food and beverage service and have the demonstrated ability to coordinate service with strong collaboration between culinary and front-of-house teams.
What you'll need
Qualifications
- Red seal certification in Culinary Arts through a recognized interprovincial agency or international equivalence.
- Previous experience implementing process and leading teams through change.
- 5+ years' culinary management experience in progressively more senior roles.
- Demonstrated passion for keeping ahead of culinary trends through innovative recipe development.
- Proven communication, organizational and time management skills.
- Must be available to work flexible shifts, including evening, weekends, holidays and "on call" rotation as required.
- Client focused, solutions focused approach to business delivery.
- Must be experienced using various software including Word, inventory, budgeting and event management software.
