Job Title: Shift Operator
Department: Maintenance
Division: Lobster
Purpose of Position
Reporting to the Lead Maintenance Supervisor, the Shift Operator is pivotal in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of critical systems including Main Engine Room, Refrigeration Systems, Lobster Life Support Systems, and more. This role encompasses general maintenance and upkeep across all related areas.

What you'll do
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct maintenance on engine room equipment and related machinery.
- Perform assigned maintenance tasks and regular checks on stationary equipment.
- Manage and maintain Lobster Life Support Systems.
- Communicate equipment deficiencies or issues to fellow Operators, Chief Engineer, or Maintenance Supervisor.
- Coordinate and assist outside contractors as needed.
- Uphold company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you'll need
Qualifications
- Certification: Valid 2nd Class Refrigeration certificate or minimum 4th Class Power Engineering certificate.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in a similar setting, experience with Freon/ammonia-based refrigeration systems required.
- Skills: Proficiency with PLCs, instrumentation, MS Word, and Excel. Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
- Additional: Experience in general maintenance tasks is advantageous.

- Location: Arichat, NS
- Physical Demands: Manual dexterity, handling heavy objects, working in varying temperatures and confined spaces.
- Environment: Exposure to chemical and oil mists; working in extreme temperature differences.
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, rotating between days and nights during training; night shifts upon completion. Overtime and vacation coverage required.
