Reporting to the Sexual Violence leads at each institution, the Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Consultant (SVPRC) is an inter-university Term position that is expected to work closely with relevant community, student government, and institutional stakeholders in order to build a framework for building institutional capacity and exceptional sexual violence response. The position will be the primary contact on Sexual Violence for all four of the institutions on matters of sexual violence reports. The position will provide leadership in policy and the development of related processes to support appropriate responses as well as providing guidance and support to peer-based programming on sexual violence.

The SVPRC will be an advisor to, and may also be a member of, institutional sexual violence response teams and related committees during the period of their appointment. The position will assist with the research, development, training, and sexual violence awareness campaigns. This position will be challenged and empowered to stay abreast of existing policies, research and trends on sexual violence provincially and nationally to ensure that the position stays relevant and innovative of best practices. 

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Work with each institution to research and identify gaps in service delivery and provide objective feedback based on national best practices.
  • Be a key resource in the implementation of proposed solutions, providing campus specific guidance and potentially assisting in response.
  • Provide Quality Assurance auditing on previous cases and make recommendation on procedural improvements going forward.
  • Work collaboratively to make recommendation on policy change and enhancement at each institution
  • Provide support in the investigation of sexual violence complaints, which may include direct participation in the investigation process. Develop and facilitate educational programming for a broad and diverse audience (including faculty, staff, and students, using a range of educational approaches/modalities.
  • Support survivors of sexual violence, their supporters and others affected by sexual violence

What you'll need

Qualifications

Minimum of an undergraduate degree (Masters preferred) in areas such as health care, education, or social sciences related fields, and with a minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a position responsible for sexualized violence protocols and procedures (or an equivalent combination of training and experience including non-traditional forms of experience and education) is required. Training and experience in trauma-informed practices. Proven experience implementing community-based training and education initiatives. Experience with reports and disclosures of sexualized violence, along with experience in the provision of crisis intervention and supportive counselling and intervention services is a strong asset. Experience working in a post-secondary setting or working with youth will be considered an asset. A background in conducting sexual violence related investigations would be considered an asset. Relevant training in trauma-informed and anti-oppressive approaches and demonstrated understanding of working within an intersectional framework. Ability to work as a member of a collaborative team and in a remote or digitally dependent environment required. Proven ability to maintain confidentiality in a professional setting is required.
