Position Summary

The Sow to Sew (S2S) Project Coordinator is responsible for activating Sow to Sew Sustainable Fashion/Textile Programming in collaboration with the Fashion/Textile Department and the S2S Working Group. This position and related programming are made possible through a $500,000 donation from the Hilary and Galen Weston Foundation. The S2S Project Coordinator will develop a plan and report on the delivery of all activities related to this generous donation.

The Alfoldy Craft Institute

The Alfoldy Craft Institute (ACI) provides a framework for uniting diverse, cross-disciplinary craft activities through a focused research institute that brings the work of our makers and researchers to the international craft community.

The Textile/Fashion Department

At NSCAD Textile/Fashion (Te/Fa) Department is housed within the Division of Craft and supports education and research in 3 main areas: weave, surface design and fashion/form. Textile/Fashion as a craft practice situates the hand at the center of what we do, from the development of cloth, dye and print to fabrication into accessories, homeware, soft sculpture garments, wearable and textile art. Te/Fa encourages sustainable textile practices and fosters an awareness of Textile development from Sow to Sew.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Budget and Administration:

  • manage and administer Sow to Sew Budget
  • manage purchasing and supplies
  • responsible for HR related payments of honoraria, timesheets and stipends to Guest Speakers, Student Assistants and Artist in Residence
  • Prepare mid-term and final project reports

Human Resources, Staff Management and Support:

  • Responsible for managing recruitment of guest speakers, Artists in Residents, student assistants and volunteers to support Sow to Sew Programming
  • Manage Honoria, timesheets and stipends

Project Documentation and Media:

  • Ensure that project activities are documented; photo and video
  • Manage consent to share documentation.
  • Work with NSCAD communications to share progress through social media, website and field media requests

What you'll need

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree plus 3 years related experience is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience administering a budget is required. Very good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively are essential and well developed organizational and time management skills are required. Skills must include proficiency with Microsoft programs including SharePoint, Teams , Excel and Office 365. Previous experience working is a post-secondary setting is an asset.
