The Opportunity
The Service Center Print Assistant is responsible to ensure that all customers receive a smooth experience when interacting with NSCAD Service Center, the Art Supply store and its staff. The Assistant will apply creative problem-solving techniques to daily operational problems and general troubleshooting of the physical and online space. The primary goal of the clerk is to create a superior experience for our customers both in store, by phone and online, setting an example for all staff members. The Service Center Print Assistant will do this by maintaining outstanding customer service, generating revenue through helpful product knowledge, housekeeping, organizing, and assisting the staff and the activities of the university's mailing and printing services alongside the Art Store.
What you'll do
Responsibilities
- Evaluates and coordinates print and service job requests for deadline requirements; prepares complete cost estimates for print job requests and printing bids; prepares invoices for payment both externally and internally.
- Coordinate incoming external and internal projects within the department and communicate all deadlines to ensure successful completion and delivery.
- Responsible for maintaining the security procedures and policies of incoming and outgoing mail and courier services, university key and access card systems.
- Assist with campus wide mail delivery. Deliver orders to port campus once per week or as needed in collaboration with Facilities.
- Maintain in coordination with the Director - all operational inventory, chargebacks, postages, strategic equipment replacement, and maintenance. Advises director of general purchasing needs and sources.
- Provide a variety of pre-press operations including scanning, faxing, shredding, editing, and consultation on material choices for internal and external clients.
- Open/Close NSCAD Service Center following all procedures and security checks.
- Performs other work as advised.
What you'll need
Qualifications
Minimum grade 12 education plus Previous retail experience or (an equivalent combination of education and experience) required. Diploma in Design and Print Production preferred. Intermediate level of experience with excel is required. Experience with Shopify POS is required. Previous experience in a Print and Copy center is preferred. Ability to lift a minimum of 40lbs comfortably and regularly. Comfortable standing for long periods of time.
