Marid Industries Limited is seeking a Senior Steel Detailer to join our drafting and engineering team. At Marid our work varies from structural steel buildings, miscellaneous steel (stairs and railings), bridges, and renovations. As a Senior Steel Detailer, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and widen your scope of knowledge.

The Senior Steel Detailer provides detailing support, checking, and project coordination to Engineers, Project Managers, and/or Customers. Reviews all contract data and drawings provided by our customers for each project and translates the information onto Marid drawings so that our shop and site employees clearly understand scope of work.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Engineers, Project Managers, and customers/clients to translate customer information into Marid produced drawings allowing efficient shop fabrication and erection of steel.
  • Develop and prepare fabrication and erection documents in Tekla Structures including erection drawings, advance bill of materials, shop details and CNC data for shop equipment.
  • Apply knowledge of construction methods and building practices along with understanding Marid's preferred methods of fabrication and erection.
  • Support the fabrication and erection team with troubleshooting on daily challenges.
  • Maintain proper document data control and contribute to the ongoing efforts of quality assurance.

What you'll need

Qualifications

Education

  • Successful completion of a Civil Engineering Technology program or equivalent.

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of 3-Dimensional modelling (Tekla) experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years steel detailing experience
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Bluebeam.
  • Strong time management and the ability to work on various structural and miscellaneous projects at any given time depending on size of project and complexity.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills are a requirement.
  • Ability to draw sketches or details on paper is an asset (for checking and communication purposes).
  • Knowledge of basic bolted & welded connection design, and welding symbols.
  • Ability to work with math concepts such as percentages, ratios, areas and volume.
  • Familiarization with industry standards (CISC and AISC).
  • Knowledge of the National and Provincial Building Codes is an asset.
