Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Application and Data Analytics, as a member of the applications team, you are responsible for evaluating user requests for new or modified programs, determining feasibility, cost and time required, and compatibility with current systems. The incumbent will be part of a small team of developers and must understand current operating systems and procedures, perform unit testing, maintain standard documentation, and apply programming and computer systems knowledge. In addition, your duties as a senior developer will include providing guidance to others on application development.

Key responsibilities for this position include analysis and assessment of requests for enhancements to systems based on business requirements and process improvements; recommending, designing and testing proposed solutions to meet client business process needs; maintaining documentation; and identifying and resolving application and technical problems. The Senior Programmer Analyst may oversee the work of junior programmers, developers and analysts during all development lifecycle phases, conduct detailed analysis, resolve more complex programming issues, and provide guidance for application development environments. In addition, the incumbent will provide programming expertise to enhance functionality and/or performance of applications; design, develop, and implement customizations, extensions, interfaces, and reports; develop detailed system specifications for major system installations; and identify configuration requirements to support integration decisions and technology process improvements.

Qualifications

Required qualifications for this opportunity include a university degree in computer science and 5 (five) years of recent related work experience in programming within enterprise systems; OR a two-year diploma in information technology and 7 (seven) years of recent related work experience in programming within enterprise systems.

Related work experience must include programming in Oracle or SQL Server, strong relational database design and programming, structured systems design and development, object-oriented programming, analysis and design skills, software development lifecycle concepts, and developing and deploying custom solutions. Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications on their resumes.

Written and spoken competence in English is required.

Preference may be given to candidates with

· Extensive experience in working with the Microsoft .Net development platform, Microsoft SQL, PL-SQL, and SQL Stored Procedures, XML, and the integration of applications.

· Extensive experience in working with Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions 8 or later including implementation experience using PeopleTools 8.55 or later, Application Designer, PeopleCode, Integration Broker, SQRs, and BI Publisher is an asset.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised.

NBCC offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that includes a competitive salary for this position ranging from $57,616 to $80,314. This position is a unionized position where the terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NBUPPE - Information Technology collective agreement for the College.
