The Opportunity

Our Pension Administration teams is looking for someone who have expertise in client care and service excellence for the role of Senior Pension Analyst. The successful candidate will use their excellent customer service and problem-solving skills to respond to advanced plan member enquiries and find solutions to even the trickiest situations, while providing guidance and leadership to other members of the pension administration team.

Your key activities will include:

  • Processing and completing advanced transaction activities including terminations, retirements, deaths, transfers and service purchases.
  • Determining entitlements upon death, disability, retirement, termination of membership for members in accordance with specific plan provisions.
  • Peer reviewing and verifying complex, unusual, and escalated plan member service inquiries, and providing recommendations, while ensuring that all transactions are managed appropriately, and are compliant.
  • Relationship manager for members, employers, and internal business to support and resolve escalated technical and procedural issues.
  • Support the leadership team in daily pension operations, recommending efficiencies and resource requirements.
  • Assisting with developing, implementing and measuring workflow management systems, member self-service and pension calculation tools, procedures, and internal standards and controls.
  • Assisting the leadership team in managing the annual year-end member data process with participating employers.
  • Provide feedback to team members on an ongoing basis to help develop talent.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of training programs and materials.
  • Assist with the development of communication materials for pension administration processes and procedures.
  • Recommends and implements solutions for complex data integrity and pension administration problems and issues that arise.

What you'll bring to the role

  • The completion of a college or university related program, supplemented by a minimum of 10 years of pension administration experience. Equivalencies will be considered.
  • Advanced knowledge of pension plan administration and of related legislation/Plan provisions including the PSPP Plan Text, the Pension Benefits Act, the Family Law Act, and federal statutes such as CPP, EI and the Income Tax Act.
  • You are a self-starter, with excellent project leadership skills and a high degree of accountability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and client care excellence to meet established service levels, prioritize urgent work and communicate with plan members, employers and other key stakeholders with sensitivity and tact.
  • Completion of a benefits designation such as Certified Employee Benefits Specialist or Group Benefits Associate is preferred.

Salary Range: $79,100 - $110,600
