Clearwater Seafoods' Finance department requires a Senior Finance Manager, Internal controls The position is a Full-Time position and is located in Bedford, N.S.

Purpose of Position

The Senior Finance Manager, Internal controls is responsible for establishing and maintaining, in consultation with managing partner requirements and Clearwater Executive, disclosure controls and procedures, and

internal controls over financial reporting ("ICFR"). The Senior Finance Manager will lead the development and have managing oversight of governance and corporate-level policies and procedures, ensuring their implementation and monitoring compliance.

This position will provide essential support to the CFO, the VP, Corporate Reporting & Accounting, and the Executive management team in measuring objectives and creating efficiencies. The Senior Finance Manager will also be called upon to support the business intelligence and other initiatives of Clearwater including project support, such as those initiated by the VP Finance, Continuous Improvement and the Group Director, Information Systems & Services, and support for the corporation's ESG initiatives.

Reporting Structure

This position reports in a matrix reporting framework to the VP, Corporate Reporting & Accounting and Chief Financial Officer of Clearwater.

Major Responsibilities

  • With managing partner support and CFO input, develop a long-term strategy for the internal ICFR function.
  • Lead the design and maintenance of disclosure controls and internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Evaluate compliance with established procedures and internal controls by leading the testing of operational control activities, including leveraging, overseeing, and facilitating the annual internal audit.
  • Assist areas of business growth, both organic and M&A to establish ICFR alignment with the corporate office.
  • Plan, manage and execute operational and financial audits, as necessary.
  • Proactively monitor for changes that can impact ICFR (e.g., evolving regulations, operating environment, systems, and business changes) and in response, work with management to promote control continuity.

  • Stay current on disclosure and ICFR regulations and best practices to ensure effective and efficient compliance.

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with management, other members of the finance team and the managing partner.

  • Prepare reports for management, PBHC and the Mi'kmaq Coalition that outline findings and recommend appropriate corrective actions.

  • Identify and address training and development needs to fill compliance gaps.

  • Coordinate with external auditors, internal auditors and process owners to deliver the control documentation required to support the financial statement audit and promote efficiencies between external and internal auditors.

  • Work with risk owners to develop action plans to mitigate financial reporting errors and potential losses.

  • Support and/or lead initiatives to streamline business processes and reporting.

Working Conditions

  • Location: Bedford, NS
  • Travel: Some travel will be required to other Clearwater locations as required (primarily within Nova Scotia and Newfoundland with some international travel)

Qualifications

  • CPA and/or CIA designation
  • Minimum 5 years ICFR experience
  • Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis and project management
  • In-depth knowledge of ICFR principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • SAP user knowledge is an asset
  • Clear and effective communication skills, both verbally and written
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
