The Security department at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for a Full-time Security Dispatch Officer position.

About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager of Security, the Security Dispatch Officer safeguards people, University buildings and property, and works to ensure a safe environment on the University campus in accordance with established regulations and procedures. The Security Dispatch Officer also plays an active role in ensuring adherence to University regulations and procedures, as they apply to themselves and all persons on the campus. This is communicated through people coming to the security desk or calling in to the main switchboard. The Security Dispatch Officer is also responsible for processing all incoming calls and inquiries, recording messages, maintaining and monitoring daily record log reports, dispatching calls to security patrol officers, and be the primary communication resource for patrol staff. All emergency services for the University are centralized at this position. There is a requirement to handle cash and deposits. General clerical reception duties apply with precise detail to reports and monitoring schedules. Security Dispatch Officers are also responsible for key control for different departments across campus and selling parking permits. Other responsibilities include monitoring rules, regulations and access in a student residence complex.

About You
The successful applicant will have a grade 12 education, and preference will be given to those with related experience. They will also possess excellent communication and organizational skills, and a demonstrated ability to deal with the public in an efficient and pleasant manner is essential. The ability to multitask is essential for working in an environment with multiple phones, radios, and customers. A St. John's Ambulance First Aid/CPR course would be a definite asset. Previous experience in Security Patrol will be considered an asset. The applicant must be able to work rotating shifts and be capable of working independently with minimum supervision. The reporting structures and supporting documentation are primarily electronic and therefore candidates must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and have a demonstrated aptitude for using related business enterprise systems.

Classification: Full-time, Rotating Shifts IUOE Position (80 hours biweekly)
Rate of Pay: $15.65 per hour
