The Secretary IV for the Department of Economics and the Department of Marketing works as a staff member of the Sobey School of Business. The Secretary IV reports to one of the Chairs of either Marketing or Economics (on an annual rotating basis). This role provides secretarial and clerical support to the Chairs of Marketing and Economics and other members of the two academic departments including full and part-time faculty, and other personnel with links to departmental activities. As the first point of contact to respond to basic enquiries from students, faculty, University staff and the external community, and, through the provision of accurate information and appropriate referrals for various inquiries, the Secretary IV plays an important role in student success and engagement. The Secretary IV is an important resource and point of liaison for the two Departments with the Dean's Office of the Sobey School and other units with the Sobey School and Saint Mary's University.

The Secretary IV works out of the Economics & Marketing Departments and reports to Chair of Economics Department or Marketing Department.

Group affiliation for this position is with the Bargaining Unit 79. The position is evaluated at a Group 6 (salary range $ 37,797 - $ 44,769). Salary scale or Collective Agreement can be viewed here.

Qualifications

To be the successful Secretary IV you will possess a completion of High School plus one (1) year Community College business/secretarial course and a minimum of one (1) years of directly related work experience. A potential candidate will posses technical typing. Working Knowledge of several software packages including Microsoft Suite. Ability to handle and maintain confidential material. Strong organizational skills and ability to function independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and listening skills. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure. Working in a university environment considered an asset. Ability to work remotely and support faculty working remotely. Website and social media communication experience an asset.
