Salary: To be commensurate with qualifications and experience in the range of $46,433 - $56,081 per annum. A furnished on-campus apartment, parking, and meal plan will be provided.

Responsibilities

Acadia seeks a Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) to help create and promote an inclusive Residence Life program conducive to academic success, personal development and the overall health and wellness of each student living in residence.

Our Residence Life Coordinators (RLC) contribute significantly to student development at Acadia University. The RLCs help create a safe, comfortable, diverse, inclusive, and supportive residence environment that ensures opportunities for academic success and personal growth.

This position is responsible for a portfolio that includes additional support for students of African descent, Indigenous students, and students of colour, including leadership of the RAs of Colour affinity group and similar initiatives.

Our Residence Life Coordinators must have a genuine interest in the academic and personal growth of students and must understand (or be willing to learn) the traditions and importance of residence life at Acadia University. RLCs directly and indirectly contribute to university wide recruitment and retention activities.

The incumbent will be required to live on campus within a university residence and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation. A furnished on-campus apartment, parking, and meal plan will be provided.

Qualifications

  • We are seeking a candidate with a minimum of a bachelor's degree combined with related work experience.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to respond to concerns and situations in a professional and diplomatic manner.

  • Candidates need to demonstrate, through previous accomplishments, a genuine interest in the academic and personal growth of students, an interest and understanding of student development principles, a commitment to the promotion of health and wellness, and an understanding of risk and risk reduction through education and programing.

  • Candidates must have the ability to train and supervise staff teams comprised of primarily young adults. Experience dealing with young adults from culturally diverse backgrounds is essential.

  • All Residence Life Coordinators must be available and may be called upon at any time, day or night, weekdays, weekends, or holidays while university students are living in residence.

  • Candidates must have knowledge of and lived experience related to the needs of equity-deserving students in order to support students of African descent, Indigenous students, and students of colour.
