At LearnNorth, we work with industry-leading K-12 virtual schools in the USA and lend an extra hand with new course development and course reversions by digitalizing module lesson content scripts and lesson assessment scripts that will live in their Learning Management System (LMS). We have been fighting EdTech monsters for over 25 years!

Due to the nature of our work, we find ourselves very lucky to be able to offer remote office work opportunities working in Canada only. Applicants must meet remote office work conditions.

We're hiring two more full-time, entry-level course builder to assist with a temporary project already in progress. The quality of your work must be as important to you as it is to our client! Timeline:

  • Position Type: Temporary Full-Time
  • Interviews: Ongoing
  • Term start date: mid-late April 2024.
  • Term end date: End of July 2024
  • Requires availability of 37.5 work hours a week, weekdays Mon-Fri - 7.5 hours work days. Work hours flexibility between 8:00 am - 8:00 pm Atlantic Time Zone, EXCEPT for scheduled training and meetings. First week of work for training purposes, you must work from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm (Atlantic Time Zone).

What you'll do

Responsibilities

LearnNorth's role on this project is to execute the decisions made and digitalize the content provided by our client.

In this junior role, you will report to the team's project manager. Primary responsibility is to build lesson scripts in Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) to aid in the development of digital K-12 level courses. You will create quizzes and assignments using the lesson script provided by our client's content writer, then configure assessment settings, grade book settings, and syllabus setup. You will also add and edit lesson content, applying the styling template. You are required to adhere to the client's course development guidelines. Task-specific training will be provided for this task.

A secondary role will be to support the development of courses as follows:

  • peer verification review of co-worker's deliverables prior to delivery to the client
  • fix assigned defects found by our verification review and any defects found or changes requested as a result of client review upon delivery
  • develop course content within Canvas and use a course authoring tool H4P for the development of interactives
  • complete title audit for lesson/assessment naming consistency when needed
  • other course development tasks as required

What you'll need

Qualifications

Required Criteria:

  • You must physically reside and work in Canada.
  • You must either be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or have a valid Canadian work permit.
  • You must be able to successfully pass a Criminal Record Check (CRC)
  • High English language proficiency - both verbal and written

Experience: experience in a similar role is considered an asset, specifically

  • Course builder and/or Instructional Design experience or junior front-end developer experience
  • Quality Assurance experience
  • Learning Management System (LMS) developer or admin role experience, specifically Canvas LMS
  • Development experience
  • Experience using course authoring tools such as H5P
