What you'll do

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Environmental Services and Sustainability, the Receiving and Distribution Clerk is a member of the Facilities Management team and is responsible for the receiving and distribution functions for the university related to incoming shipments and mail, and the distribution of same throughout the campus.

The Receiving and Distribution Clerk is responsible for the control and security of the receiving/mailroom areas; managing inventory and maintaining stock control records; maintaining the WHMIS database for chemicals used by the department, and assisting faculty when searching for same; assisting manager and faculty with establishing protocols related to the removal of chemical and organic waste; product sourcing and making recommendations on same; follow-up front line concerns with suppliers; arrangement of equipment repair services for repair and maintenance of mail van, postage machine and custodial equipment; keeping current with transportation and federally regulated postal regulations, including with transporting dangerous goods; processing, posting, delivery & tracking of campus mail; use & responsibility for care of mail van and related equipment; resolving front-line concerns with faculty, students (and their parents) in regards to mail and parcel deliveries and related inquiries or concerns.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma and a minimum of two (2) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Applicants should have well-developed inter-personal skills, excellent communication and customer services skills, and a proven ability to work effectively under pressure and with minimal supervision. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required. Candidates should have WHMIS certification and/or certification in Transporting and Handling of Dangerous Goods. Preference will be given to candidates with First Aid/CPR training. The successful candidate must have a valid driver's license.
