We are supporting our client in their search for an experienced Quality Assurance Senior Manager to join their team. This opportunity will allow the right candidate to use their skills, training, and experience within a growing business.

Job Summary:

The Quality Assurance Senior Manager will be responsible for the administration of the food safety program at our food manufacturing facility. Priority will be given to people with food manufacturing and leadership experience. Good communication skills and attention to detail are required for this position.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all Food Safety Plans are being followed and reviewed
  • Work with external Inspectors/Auditors and ensure that corrective actions are implemented
  • Coordinate testing with external labs and expert resources
  • Report discovered defects to all relevant departments for correction
  • Support the coordination of employee training
  • Lead audit and inspection processes
  • Lead Food Safety or Recall systems and practices
  • Must keep current on all regulatory changes implemented by Health Canada, Public Health and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency as well as international counterparts for the United States
  • Work with management to promote and implement continuous improvement initiatives and food safety objectives
  • Work together with the Production team to assess product problems and find solutions
  • Complete regular inspections of raw materials and components involved in the production process
  • Implement production plans and standard operating procedures to minimize risk
  • Implement testing plans and procedures
  • Communicate with other departments to coordinate scheduling for QA testing
  • Apply technical skills related to the product being tested (knowledge of programming languages to quality assurance software, knowledge of machinery for hardware, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role in a food production facility, or a combination of education and experience
  • Formal education at a recognized College or University in the field of food science, nutrition or related.
  • Possess a quality assurance/food related certification is considered an asset, specifically SQF Certification
  • Confident to make decisions and prescribe corrective action
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate with individuals and teams
  • Perform all work in a safe manner, following all health and safety operating procedures
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work early morning and weekend shifts will be required, with some late evening/overnight work from time to time.
