Role Description

The Project Manager, Civil Engineering is responsible for the overall project management of both conventional and modular format residential construction. The Project Manager will have responsibility for all stages of the project from initial viability evaluation to design, to build, for single and multi-units, with a significant focus on continuous improvement and standardization of the construction processes.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

• Oversee on-site construction activities, subcontractors, consultants, security, and vendors, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and building codes.
• Review project plans and specifications, providing input on building design, scheduling, cost-saving measures, and addressing potential construction issues.
• Oversee the procurement of labour, materials, and equipment, assisting in monthly cost forecasting summaries and budget management.
• Guide land selection, land development costs, civil infrastructure and site tie-in costs.
• Assist in preparing project schedules, monitoring timelines, budgets, and resources on a weekly basis.
• Handle scheduling and inspections, ensuring ongoing preparation of "as-built" drawings by all trades. Enforce construction and quality control standards.
• Regularly communicate with project architects, engineers, and stakeholders, maintaining accurate records of project progress.
• Prepare and expedite project deficiency lists, ensuring timely resolution.
• Mentor and efficiently lead and supervise a high-performing team.
• Ensure construction plans meet guidelines and specifications of building codes and regulations
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate building and construction materials
• Interpret, review and approve survey and civil design work
• Conduct field services for civil works
• Ensure construction plans meet guidelines and specifications of building codes and other regulations
• Establish and monitor construction work schedules
• Conduct viability and concept design assessments, economic analyses, municipal and regional traffic studies, en-vironmental impact studies or other requirements for due diligence
• Conduct technical analyses of survey and field data for development of topographic, soil, hydrological or other in-formation and prepare reports
• Oversight of third-party contractor for land survey or construction work
• Prepare contract documents, bid packages and review and assess tenders for construction projects and select the successful contractor
• Supervise technicians, technologists and other engineers and review and approve designs, calculations and cost estimates.

What you'll need

Qualifications

• Experience in leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills
• Degree in Business Administration or Construction Management is an asset.
• 3-5 years of progressive construction experience
• At least 3 years of extensive experience as Project Manager in the residential construction field
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to build relationships
• Degree in Civil Engineering
