Position Summary:

The Project Manager is responsible for the management of complex, multi stakeholder, high profile capital construction projects from conceptual design through to construction completion. The incumbent will organize and oversee multiple projects and ensure they are completed on schedule and on budget. In collaboration with project interested parties (including community, tenants, engineers, architects etc.) the Project Manager will determine the project design and construction requirements and subsequently manage the tendering, permitting, design, and construction phases of the project.

Responsibilities will include performing design and constructability reviews, supporting consultants in implementing out of the box solutions for complex problems and executing a procurement plan based on strict timelines and fixed budget. The incumbent will also manage and track project budgets and timelines, conduct site meetings, evaluate project progress, review contractor contemplated change orders and progress claims, provide regular updates to project stakeholders and produce detailed progress reports inclusive of schedule updates and cash flow projections, and ensure contractor adherence to health and safety standards.

Ultimately, this position is responsible for managing a project plan from start to finish, which will enable Build Nova Scotia to achieve its desired outcomes in a supportive and collaborative team environment. While you would lead the delivery of specific projects, you would be involved in sharing input, ideas, and expertise on all Build Nova Scotia's projects and areas of operation as needed.

Specific Accountabilities:

· Manage the procurement process of both design and construction services including developing tender documents, writing scopes of work, and establishing design and construction specifications and requirements.

· Manage the design process with various project team members, consultants, and project stakeholders; monitorthe adherence and/or modification of project requirements, provide design input and solutions at various stagesfrom concept to 100% design.

· Monitor budgets and schedules as they relate to design and construction.

· Issue, track, manage, and negotiate project changes (claims, change orders, requests for information, site instructions, etc.) within a fixed budget.

· Develop and monitor detailed project schedules tracking design, procurement and construction activities and their collective impact on anticipated project outcomes.

· Ensure that work is completed in compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.

· Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and coordinate with Authorities Having Jurisdiction.

· Evaluate work in place to assess and approve payments from project consultants and contractors.

· Manage project closeout and handover to end user.

What you'll need

Qualifications

· A minimum of 5-7 years of experience managing construction projects and a professional Engineering designation or a post-secondary degree in the engineering field, or equivalent experience.

· A PMP designation would be considered an asset.

· Proven ability to develop creative and practical engineering solutions and to identify process improvement opportunities.

· Experience working in capital infrastructure implementation with a budget up to $15 million, marine construction, government, or regulated industries would be considered an asset.

· Well-honed negotiation and communication skills.

· Great organizational and time management skills with demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

· Team player with leadership skills who has demonstrated ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders leveraging a communication style that engages a varied audience.

· Proven ability to quickly integrate into a busy team and hit the ground running.
