Position:  Project Facilitator (Maternity Leave Replacement) (APC)

Department:  Facilities Management

Annual Salary: $63,200- $81,441 (Group 6)

Under the supervision of the Manager, Projects and Facility Planning, the Project Facilitator is responsible for all aspects of capital project planning, execution and closeout.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Specific duties of the Project Facilitator include:

A. Project Planning

  • providing project planning for renovations and new constructions.
  • assessing user requests to identify and clarify project scope .
  • developing project schedules.
  • estimating project costs.

B. Project Tendering

  • reviewing external consultant drawings and specifications to ensure the tender documents reflect the site conditions and satisfy the project requirements.
  • preparing specifications and working drawings to produce tender documents.
  • calling, closing and evaluation of tenders.
  • obtaining contractor compliance information.
  • awarding of contract.

C. Contract Administration

  • coordinating all project activities to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and cause minimal disruption to the University and its operations.
  • reviewing contractor's project specific-safety plan
  • ensuring projects meet all applicable building codes, university policies, guidelines and standards.
  • managing project budgets and tracking expenditures.
  • conducting regular project meetings
  • conducting frequent visits to job sites.
  • reviewing of invoices and claims for progress payments.
  • preparation of site instructions and change orders, to ensure that the project stays within the established scope.
  • identifying project deficiencies and scheduling of remedial work.

D. Project Closeout

  • ensuring project closeout documents are received and documented.
  • project commissioning including inspections, testing and training sessions.

E. Additional Duties

  • coordinating moves, signage and furniture needs associated with projects and general University needs.
  • contributing to the development of the Facilities Capital Renewal Plan and Budget.

What you'll need

Qualifications

To be the successful Project Facilitator you will possess a Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Architecture with a minimum of three (3) years of directly related work experience or a CET with five (5) years of directly related work experience. You further possess working knowledge of AutoCAD, demonstrated organizational skills, along with excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to multi-task. You also keep current with emerging products, current construction technologies and practices. A Certificate in Project Management will be considered an asset.
