The Opportunity
Halifax Water is hiring for the job of Project Engineer (District Energy). This is a regular opportunity in the Energy & Business Development Section of the Engineering and Technology Services Department and has full time hours.
What the Energy Efficiency and Business Development Team does:
- Oversees the development of the Cogswell District Energy Utility, including utility development, design, and construction.
- Develops and integrates alternative energy solutions into Halifax Water's infrastructure.
- Oversees the utility's energy use, developing and implementing solutions for the reduction of energy use, operational costs, and greenhouse gas emissions.
As a Project Engineer (District Energy), you will:
- Provide leadership and professional engineering and project management services (e.g., utility development, planning, procurement, design, and construction) related to the development and operation of Halifax Water's Cogswell District Energy Utility.
To do this job, you need:
- A post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering.
- A Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
- Minimum of five years of experience in an engineering and/or project management position, preferably in the district energy sector.
- Experience coordinating multi-disciplined teams.
- A valid NS driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with district heating and cooling utility development, design, and/or construction.
- Experience with geo-exchange, heat pumps, and/or other alternate energy technologies.
- Experience with hydronic based HVAC design, heat exchangers, pumps, and/or piping systems.
