The Dr. J. Herbert Smith Centre (JHSC) for Technology Management and Entrepreneurship (TME) is the technology innovation and entrepreneurship hub located within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of New Brunswick (UNB), Canada. A recent Industry Canada report ranked UNB number one in Teaching and Learning, among all Canadian higher education institutions that support entrepreneurship and education; UNB was also named Canada's Most Entrepreneurial University by Start-Up Canada.
WHAT WE OFFER
Full-time | 1-Year Term | Fredericton | On-Campus
Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week
Additional Working Conditions:
- Occasional travel required to attend recruiting events.
Salary Range: $49,107 - $63,840 per annum
This salary range is subject to increases based upon the terms of the new collective agreement once signed by both parties.
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Chair of the JHSC, the Program Manager manages the day-to-day operations of the JHSC's academic and external programs, manages various student competitions and conferences, reports on the centre's yearly activities, and manages the MTME and DTME programs.
- Ensure smooth delivery of academic programs to students by maintaining good communication with both students and instructors.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Attend recruitment events (traveling when required).
- Supervise TA's, assigning tasks and duties.
- Manage JHSC's annual Future of Innovation Conference.
- Liaise with external parties related to sponsorship, guest speakers and judges.
- Organize and create cohesive conference themes that spark public, stakeholder, and student interest.
- Organize and create talking points for conference panel discussions.
- Organize speaker schedules and manage conference timelines to ensure smooth conference delivery.
- Manage the Scale up Atlantic Canada Program.
- Keep accurate cost records and report expenses to external funders.
- Recruit top Atlantic companies from all 4 Atlantic provinces.
- Report on program success and build data bank of success stories to report to funding agencies.
- Collect participant feedback to share with faculty to improve delivery of the programs.
- Keep records of media reports to send to donors as a source of success from the Centre.
- Maintain general knowledge of student projects to nominate current and graduated students for prizes and awards.
- Connect with instructors to provide support and ensure equipment and technology needs are met.
- Ensure all courses offered are up to date with course outlines.
- Evaluate courses for credit transfers, evaluate new UNB courses.
- Meet with students and advise on programs.
- Recruit students, review student applications, and conduct student interviews.
- Collaborate with other departments on student elective needs and respond to student inquires.
WHAT YOU BRING
- A post-secondary degree in a related field.
- 3 - 5 years experience in program management.
- 3 years experience in marketing and coordinating events.
Additional Strengths
- Experience advising students is considered a strong asset.
- Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Budgetary experience and ability to manage financial accounts is considered a strong asset.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to problem-solve.
- Creative and critical thinking skills to create new courses.
- Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
