Position: Program Assistant - Master of Finance (MFin) (12 Month Contract)

Department: Sobey School of Business

Salary: $40,000 + 4% in lieu of vacation

Under the direction of the Manager, Grad Program Student Success, the Program Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support for the Master of Finance program's faculty, staff, and students. They act as a liaison between MFIN students and the Program Coordinator; Manager, Graduate Program Student Success; or the Director, Grad Student Support & Recruitment. Coordinates and plans meetings and coordinates all details pertaining to special events, academic workshops, and other program needs. The Program Assistant will work closely with the rest of the Sobey Grad Programs team, and other units at the University, as necessary. They will be the first point of contact for Master of Finance students and will help guide them to the appropriate service(s). When required, the Program Assistant will support other Sobey Graduate Programs as well.

Responsibilities

Duties as the Program Assistant, MFIN include, but are not limited to:
• Acting as first point of contact for MFin and other graduate students
• Liaise with the Manager, Graduate Program Student Success, the Program Coordinator, and the Director, Graduate Student Support & Recruitment
• Support faculty members who teach in the Master of Finance program
• Organize workshops for MFin students
• Perform administrative duties related to registering students for CFA exams
• Organize tutoring for students as needed
• Facilitate the payroll processes for teaching assistants and tutors
• Support the rest of the Sobey Grad Programs team as needed
• Execute the organization of student events
• Maintain the good order of the MFin Student Workshop
• Organize, distribute, and collect keys to MFin lockers and access cards to the Workshop
• Coordinate and produce student letters as needed
• Provide input and suggestions to improve processes for the MFin program
• Respond to inquiries regarding the MFin program or other Sobey Graduate Programs
• Support recruitment efforts domestically and internationally
• Process expense claims for faculty, students, and staff
• Coordinate the logistics related to students' attendance at case competitions, conferences, and corporate tours
• Other duties as required

What you'll need

Qualifications

To be the successful Program Assistant - MFin you will have completed high school and possess a one (1) year Community College diploma along with one (1) year of directly related work experience. You must be able to demonstrate excellent analytical, oral and written communication. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite will round out your qualifications. University experience and/or extensive experience in an academic setting considered an asset.
