Are you an Accounting Professional looking for a new and exciting challenge? Do you have a passion for client service and have the desire to have a direct financial impact as the go-to professional for a number of small corporate entities?

Our Finance & Accounting team is seeking an experienced Professional Corporations Accountant to join them in a full-time permanent position in any of our Atlantic Canadian offices. As part of the Finance & Accounting team you will have the unique opportunity to work directly with the owners of our firm, providing accounting and administration for their individual corporate entities and related trusts.

As a Professional Corporations Accountant, you will be responsible for:

  • Maintain accounting records for various ownership entities (professional corporations, service corporations, family trusts);
  • Provide client service to lawyers - respond to enquiries on a variety of matters;
  • Prepare financial statements related to various ownership entities;
  • Process income payments and transfers, tax instalments, and expense reimbursements;
  • Process annual law society / company registrations;
  • Prepare T-slips and tax returns for various ownership entities;
  • Liaise between lawyers, and various internal and external parties;
  • Execute documents for new registrations;
  • Prepare invoices and periodic government remittances; and,
  • Reconcile multiple financial and tax reports.

The successful candidate will possess the following skill set:

  • Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Accounting;
  • Three (3) years of related experience, with one (1) year relating to corporate and personal income tax;
  • Outstanding client service, communication, and organizational skills;
  • Exceptional technical skills, particularly with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and accounting packages;
  • Fundamental knowledge of accounting and related concepts;
  • Knowledge of personal tax, corporate income tax and payroll remittance concepts; and,
  • Knowledge of HST/GST rules.
