The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Port Facilities Assistant Manager to join our team for a 1-year contract. As part of the Port Facilities team, you will support the management of daily port operations, ensure the efficiency and safety of our port facilities, and coordinate maintenance services with various stakeholders. What you'll do

Responsibilities

Your Focus:

  • Support the Port Facilities Manager to ensure port-managed facilities are always maintained and in a state of operational readiness.
  • Provide management, oversight and leadership to the Facilities team in the absence of the Port Facilities Manager and provide administrative and other related support to the team on a daily basis.
  • Support the Port Facilities Manager in annual work planning.
  • Develop and communicate the daily, weekly and monthly work plans for the Port Facilities Team.
  • Provide oversight of contractors during work activities on property, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate the resources for operational requirements.
  • Review and understand lease agreements to ensure required maintenance is maintained for lease holders.
  • Support and coordinate applicable training for team members.
  • Support the development of the annual facilities operating and labour budget.
  • Manage purchase orders requirements.
  • Be a champion of our Port Saint John health & safety program for the Port Facilities Team, external contractors and partners.

What you'll need

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Experience managing in a unionized environment.
  • Completed post-secondary education in a related field.
  • Project planning, health and safety program management and supervisory experience is required.
  • Experience with budget management, specifically the management of purchase orders and/or receiving is required.
  • 5-7+ years of related experience in an industrial or related setting.
  • Able to read, write and communicate in French is considered an asset.
