WHAT WE OFFER

Full-time | 6 Month Term | Fredericton | On-Campus

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 7:30 am - 4:00 pm | 40 hours per week

Salary: $27.23 hour

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Foreperson, this is skilled maintenance and repair work in the Plumbing trade at the Journeyman level.

• Works as a plumber alone or as a member of a crew employed on maintenance and construction work orders and projects. The nature of the work will vary depending on the task, may be in or out of doors under varying conditions, at heights or in confined spaces.
• Installs, repairs and maintains domestic, commercial and industrial plumbing pipes, fixtures and systems and other plumbing equipment used for water distribution and wastewater disposal.
• May prepare job estimates as to the labour and materials required to complete the job.
• Responsible for backflow inspection, repairs and testing.
• May perform elementary duties of another trade to expedite completion of the assigned task.
• As required, allocates and supervises the work of Trades Helpers and/or Labourers.
• Responsible for the application of safety precautions as may be required to ensure minimum hazard to self and others. Must be thoroughly familiar with the National Plumbing Code of Canada, National Building Code, Environmental Regulations as they affect the Plumbing trade and the NB Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Responsible for the care and preservation of assigned tools and equipment.
• Performs other related duties as required.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Formal education as required by the Province of New Brunswick to meet the Journeyman standard for the Plumbing trade. Possession of Journeyman certificate in the Plumbing trade as issued by the Province of New Brunswick is essential.
• A minimum of three (3) years of diversified experience at the Journeyman level in the Plumbing trade with a concentration on maintenance.

Additional Strengths:

• The ability to read and interpret plans and specifications and to be able to work from sketches and diagrams.
• Proven ability to work with other trades people and the versatility in handling and using the tools of the trade.
• Must have the physical capacity to carry out the functions of the trade, including the ability, on occasion, to lift heavy objects, work from ladders or in cramped quarters.
