The Opportunity
MacKinnon and Olding (M&O), a Crosbie Group Limited & Member Company, is currently seeking a Personnel Movements & Training Coordinator. M&O offers a suite of marine and industrial solutions for its clients and provides access to cutting edge innovations through the company's network of global technology partners. M&O's core business includes scaffolding, surface preparation, painting/coatings, insulation and flooring; with more than 30 years' experience, M&O is the leading marine contractor on the East Coast of Canada.
The Personnel Movements & Training Coordinator is responsible for maintaining M&O's personnel resource list and deployment of competent personnel to the work site as required to fulfill customer and superintendent's requests. S/he will also be responsible to ensure that training for all Company personnel meets client, regulatory, trade and company requirements and documentation to support verification of the same is maintained.
What you'll do
Responsibilities
Personnel Deployment
- Review resource requirements to ensure effective utilization of personnel between work sites;
- Work with trade unions and other resourcing bodies to ensure additional resources are secured and trained in a timely manner to meet operational demands;
- Proactively identify and communicate potential labor provision gaps requiring resolution;
- Verify worker competence in compliance with client, site and role requirements prior to work deployment;
- Update labour resources database for personnel movements and provide associated reporting as required; and,
- Assist in administering appropriate paperwork to project assigned employees.
Training
- Ensure training and certifications of staff are up to date in compliance with client, regulatory, trade and company requirements;
- Maintain documentation to support verification of all worker training and certifications;
- Monitor all training expiry dates and arrange required training to ensure no lapses in training and certifications for current personnel;
- Complete payroll and expense claim documentation for personnel attending training, in accordance with collective agreements and contracts;
- Participate in internal and external audits and adhere to business policies and procedures; and
- Where necessary, provide support to the company Security Officer.
What you'll need
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in training, human resources or other relevant discipline.
- Problem solving skills with sharp attention to detail;
- Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills;
- Self-starter and proactive approach in resolving problems and issues;
- Experience in collective agreements and working in a unionized environment;
- Adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to handle a variety of time sensitive tasks and prioritize in a professional and timely manner;
- Excellent computer literacy skills, specifically with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft SharePoint; and,
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
