Open Arms is seeking a passionate, reliable, and highly organized Outreach Manager to lead our outreach team, drive program success, and foster meaningful community connections.
This role combines strategic planning, staff supervision, and community collaboration to ensure effective service delivery, client-centered care, and measurable outcomes in connecting clients to housing, healthcare, and support services. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with proven experience managing teams and building relationships with community stakeholders.
What you'll do
Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, supervise, and mentor outreach workers, fostering a culture of compassion, accountability, and collaboration.
- Provide training and support on trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and culturally responsive practices.
- Participate in field outreach to stay connected to clients and support team efforts.
Operations & Logistics Management
- Manage outreach logistics, including scheduling, vehicle operations, and distribution of essential supplies (e.g., hygiene kits, food, blankets
Program Oversight & Development
- Develop, implement, and evaluate outreach programs that support the organization's goals.
- Develop and implement outreach strategies to engage individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Oversee client assessments, ensuring they are being connected to appropriate resources.
- Assist in managing the outreach budget and ensure effective resource allocation.
Community & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners, local organizations, and key stakeholders.
- Represent the organization at community meetings, coalitions, and events to advance homeless services and policy advocacy.
Communication & Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact for outreach efforts; ensure clear, professional communication.
- Plan and execute outreach events, workshops, and presentations to engage the community.
Monitoring, Reporting & Compliance
- Monitor program performance, track outcomes, and prepare reports for leadership, funders, and stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate client documentation and compliance with organizational policies, funding requirements, and data privacy standards.
What you'll need
Qualifications
Education
Diploma in social work, social or human services, public administration, or related field (Bachelor's degree an asset); equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
Skills & Experience
- 3-5 years' experience in homeless services, outreach, or case management, nonprofit programming, or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Proven leadership skills, with experience managing teams, budgets, and program operations.
- Strong knowledge of issues related to poverty, homelessness, housing and/or mental health.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with evidence-based interventions, including housing-first, harm reduction, and motivational interviewing.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, including clients, staff, and partners.
- Highly dependable with strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment and priorities.
- Culturally competent with a passion for community engagement and social impact
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with CRM systems is an asset.
Additional Information
- Occasional evening and weekend hours required, including ability to be on-call.
- Local travel required including ability to operate the outreach vehicle; must have a valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
- This position is renewable pending funding after one year.
