Responsibilities

The Operations Engineer, reporting to the Senior Manager of Water Services, is responsible to play a leadership role in wastewater and stormwater collection and treatment operations. They are responsible for providing engineering support to operating programs and projects in the Wastewater and Stormwater Services Department. They will plan, develop, review and monitor operating programs, practices and service standards, consistent with corporate objectives. The Operations Engineer maintains expert level knowledge in key functional areas such as Water Loss Control, Distribution System Hydraulics and Asset Management.

What you'll need

Qualifications

As an Operations Engineer you bring 5+ years of progressively responsible related experience in a municipal engineering field including direct supervisory experience, preferably at the municipal level; Management and Supervisory experience considered an asset. In addition, you have completed a post-secondary degree in Civil Engineering and you are registered as a Professional Engineer with Engineers Nova Scotia and also hold a valid NS driver's license.

As an ideal candidate, you have a knowledge of Halifax Water's Rules and Regulations and Municipal By-Laws.
