Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:00 am - 4:00 pm | 36.25 hours per week

Salary: $21.99 per hour

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Senior Director, Residence, the Operations Coordinator will oversee the summer student staff cleaners to ensure the standards of cleanliness are met and that the space, equipment and supplies are all in good working order.

  • Oversee summer student staff. Assign duties, prepare work schedules, manage staffing issues, prioritize cleaning projects, troubleshoot issues and evaluate staff. Manage and authorize student staff overtime and leave requests.
  • Train all cleaning staff following residence standards.
  • Oversee the transition from academic year to summer operations.
  • Recommend the provision of occasional contract cleaning, as required.
  • Manage schedules to ensure the department maximizes the housekeeping budget available for staffing expenses and supplies.
  • Coordinate housekeeping crews to ensure the number of rooms required and the associated areas are ready to receive guests on schedule.
  • Maintain room status inventory and check upcoming events in the departmental conference management software.
  • Collaborate with the Conference Services team to ensure spaces are readily available.
  • Conduct pre-conference season space planning due to renovations, repairs, or other work.
  • Maintain an inventory of cleaning equipment, supplies, and hotel linens.
  • Request supplier quotes and prepare purchase requisitions for supplies and equipment.
  • · Inspect rooms, washrooms, corridors, common rooms, and entrance areas to ensure standards of cleanliness are maintained.
  • · Ensure the proper maintenance of all UNB-owned housekeeping equipment. Arrange for repair and/or replacement of used and damaged equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain digital records and reports related to various aspects of the job.
  • Build and keep an in-house database on all open work orders. Collaborate with Facilities Management.
  • Cleaning duties, as may be required, to maintain cleanliness.
  • Other duties as required.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years of practical experience related to custodial work.

Additional Strengths

  • Supervisory experience would be an asset.
  • Willing and able to work as part of a collaborative team.
  • Ability to deal pleasantly and effectively with a wide range of individuals.
  • Ability to function within a budget.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of the safe operation and care of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
