The Operational Technology Specialist is responsible for coordination and execution of OT services and project support activities within the automation group. The primary activities include technical documentation of architectural components, strategic guidance, and packaging of Operational Technology Systems within Actemium and/or client's procedures and guidelines.


General Profile - Under general supervision, works in close support with other engineering design personnel in the preparation and carrying out of original or adaptations to designs necessitated by inadequate tolerances, assisting in evaluation of problems and/or customer requirements and recommendation of 3rd party products. Creates and maintains moderately complex network diagrams. Makes layouts of necessary hardware, calculates stack-up of detail components, and may prepare major cost studies consisting of new details and all supporting documentation.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Assist with evaluation of enterprise-wide OT solutions based on the Rockwell automation platform and other related third-party technologies
  • It is your responsibility to make sure that the deliverables adhere to project specifications and are technically correct.
  • To guarantee that technical and physical interfaces are taken care of, communicate with engineers from various disciplines.
  • Prepares engineering specifications and drawings, quantity and cost estimates including the design and documentation of network diagrams and server architecture.
  • Accountable for coaching and providing knowledge transfer of approved procedures and/or activities.
  • Establishes and maintains client relationships and external contacts with suppliers.
  • Interacts with contractors and participates in on-site investigations, audits and machine start-up activities.
  • Understands and adheres to corporate procedures with an emphasis on Design Control and Standards Procedures.
  • Presents a professional image and strong corporate commitment to colleagues, clients, suppliers and all external contacts.
  • Assumes responsibility to work within cost, resource and schedule allocations provided by supervising project manager, or senior staff member with delegated authority.
  • Maintains up-to-date electrical engineering knowledge, and stays current with industry trends and best practices.
  • Maintains accurate records for time accounting and charges against financial budgets
  • Other duties as required.

What you'll need

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in a technical program such as IT, Computer Science or Engineering
• 3-5 or more years of direct work experience which demonstrates deep comprehension for Operational Technology applications, interfaces and associated systems
• CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA/CCNP or equivalent certifications
• Strong awareness of various enterprise IT infrastructures, including networks, servers, storage, and user authentication services (Active Directory).
• Understanding of NIST framework and IEC 62443
• Experience with VMWare virtualization, certifications would be an asset
• Strong understanding of and practical experience with networking, including associated protocols, services, technologies, and concepts. (Such as routing, network security, physical network cabling, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, LAPS, FTP, HTTPS, SMTP, SSL, RDP, NTP, telnet, SSH, IPSEC, and VLAN)
• Integration of PLC/DCS platforms with operations systems such as OSIsoft PI.
• Ability to update network diagrams via AutoCAD or Microsoft Visio
• Strong problem identification and resolution skills
• Able to communicate ideas and recommendations, both verbally and in writing, to team members in a clear manner
• Highly motivated and self-directed capable of multi-tasking, and able to work with minimal supervision
• High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite
• Proficient technical writing skills
• Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
• Excellent time management skills
