NSCAD University is a global leader in contemporary art, craft and design education. We are a destination that attracts the top students, faculty and visiting artists from around the world. We seek to raise money to reunify our students, faculty, and programs at the Historic Halifax Seaport, creating a new arts district. This is a bold vision and an ambitious goal. President Peggy Shannon is creating an elite team of interdisciplinary specialists to realize this vision.

NSCAD Ambassador for Art & Design's responsibilities are twofold:

  • Identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding high-level donor and volunteer prospects who can make or influence transformative philanthropic gifts of $2.5 million or more-particularly among those who collect art-to the university's comprehensive campaign to support the campus renewal and reunification plan.
  • Enhancing NSCAD's visibility and relevance in the contemporary art world, and reinforcing the image of NSCAD as a past, present, and future global leader in art, craft, and design.

The Ambassador for Art & Design (AAD) will work with the Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO), Campaign Director and team, as well as volunteer leadership to identify, rate, cultivate, solicit and steward individuals, corporations and foundations (corporate and family) with the capacity to give at the $2.5 million level and above.

Partnering with the Campaign Team, the successful candidate will manage a portfolio of up to 25 prospective principal donors and have an annual target to confirm at least $12.5 million in pledges from that prospect pool in total during the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic years.

The AAD must champion the strategic vision of the university as expressed through the campaign priorities, be solutions-oriented, and must be confident and comfortable speaking with high net-worth individuals. The AAD must be able to understand and interpret the donors' interests to connect the donors' aspirations relative to the importance of art and design education with the university's established needs and campaign priorities.
