WHAT WE OFFER
Full-time | Continuing | Saint John | On-Campus
Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week
Additional Working Conditions:
- Occasional travel to locations within the province.
- Flexibility in working hours, including occasional on-call after-hours support and time shifting.
- Participation in after-hours emergency response.
Salary Range: $51,479 - $66,922 per annum
A Market Differential may apply.
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Technical Operations Manager, the Network Analyst fulfills requests, resolves and prevents incidents, resolves problems, operates and monitors infrastructure, consults with users, and contributes to installation and layout designs. The position works on low to medium-complexity tasks and is a tier 2 escalation point for issues and requests escalated from tier 1 technical support.
- Fulfill service requests escalated from tier 1 or projects. Monitor the request list, communicate the completion date to the users, complete the request by the agreed-upon date, evaluate the completed request, complete documentation, and close the request.
- Apply known fixes, prioritize and categorize incidences/vulnerabilities, investigate and diagnose, resolve incidences/vulnerabilities, validate resolutions, maintain documentation, and educate tier 1 support, if appropriate.
- Develop and maintain operational and configuration information. Apply established procedures to patch, maintain, deploy, and change infrastructure to meet established standards.
- Participate in research and planning for operational changes.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on security, capacity, and performance.
- Resolve recurring incidents. Identify recurring incidents, record the problem, perform causal/diagnostic root cause analysis, develop resolution plans, apply fixes/workarounds, identify which problems cannot be fixed, update documentation and communicate results.
- Provide timely assistance in the design of network installations and layouts that meet documented requirements.
- Help develop and interpret written business requirements and technical specification documents.
- Participate in project teams as an effective team member. Complete independent projects successfully and on time.
- Exercise initiative to independently learn new technologies.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Post-secondary in a computer/IT-related field.
- 2 years of related work experience with TCP/IP, switch, wireless, router and VOIP technologies.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Strengths
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a Data Communications focus or Computer Engineering would be an asset.
- Familiar using various operating systems and with network and connectivity technologies.
- Familiar with and able to apply applicable Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) standards.
- Familiar with and able to apply standards related to working safely around electricity.
- Working knowledge of network security is an asset.
- Must be able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritize work, apply departmental standards and meet deadlines.
- Ability to adapt to changes in a work environment. Adapts quickly to and welcomes technology changes.
