The Office of Student Experience is currently seeking a Mount 101 Program Coordinator.

Classification: 2 Year Contract
Starting Salary: $55,816 per annum
Start Date: April 2018

The Mount 101 Program Coordinator will lead the implementation of Mount 101, an innovative new program for all first year, undergraduate students to ensure their smooth transition to the Mount. The program has two components: an online, adaptive learning program and a peer mentoring program. The Program Coordinator will work to successfully launch this program through collaboration across campus, monitor student progress and provide feedback to continuously improve the program. The successful candidate will be passionate about student development and success and have demonstrated leadership in this area.

Vital to the success of the program will be the engagement of Mount faculty and student mentors. The Coordinator will work with faculty, staff and students to assist in integrating the program into the first year experience. The Coordinator will manage approximately 25 senior students, acting as peer mentors, providing professional development sessions and track their learning and mentoring activities. The Coordinator will work with academic departments and other areas of student experience eg. Residence Life, Athletics & Recreation, the International Education Centre to promote Mount 101 and the success of incoming students. The Coordinator will work with a university committee to evaluate the efficacy of the program and solicit student feedback to continuously improve the program to meet student needs.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Work with instructional designers to complete the online program and develop student assessment
  • Create an implementation schedule, integrating assessment, interventions, and a communications plan
  • Liaise with faculty to integrate Mount 101 into coursework; while collaborating closely with the Teaching and Learning Centre
  • Recruit and retain peer mentors suitable to work with first-year undergraduate students
  • Liaise with Office of Student Experience staff to integrate Mount 101 into programming and to identify professional learning and leadership opportunities for peer mentors
  • Act in a proactive manner to anticipate tools and resources to support peer mentors to respond to conflict, deal with a variety of personalities and behaviours, and ensure peer mentors follow standard campus procedures for responding to emergencies and support undergraduate student engagement with peer mentors and Mount 101
  • Formally document and present findings to provide continuous improvement to Mount 101; and prepare reports for the university community and for funders

What you'll need

Qualifications

You possess a relevant university degree (Masters of Education, Psychology) with two years of related experience and experience working in an educational setting. You are passionate about student success and enjoy working with a diverse student body. Experience using learning management systems, such as Moodle, is required and experience with online course development and training in inclusive curriculum is an asset. Able to provide clear and concisely written briefings and maintain an organized method for documenting meeting notes, program support documents, and student notes. You possess strong skills in written and oral communication, interpersonal/team work, organization, time management, marketing/public relations, social media savvy, and website editing. You are able to work well independently, with creativity and initiative. Candidates should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint), and have an aptitude for, or previous experience, using business enterprise systems such as Colleague, Banner, PeopleSoft, etc.
