What you'll do

Responsibilities

Primary Accountabilities

  • Monitor the delivery of lease update packages and lease renewal reminders prior to the lease expiry date.
  • Create and maintain a follow-up system to ensure the timely and complete return of income documentation for rent adjustment purposes and other deadlines.
  • Prepare correspondence to tenants regarding rent calculations, lease renewals, abatements, or adjustments.
  • Process tenant transfers and all applicable data entry.
  • Process all lease renewals and mid-term adjustments, abatements, transfers, and move-in rent calculations in a timely manner to generate revenue in accordance with Chapter 14, 16, and 17 policy manual.
  • Setup electronic funds for new Move-In's.
  • Process vacate files and complete deposit accounting.
  • Identify and analyze income documentation and family compositions for accuracy and completeness.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Business administration program in bookkeeping or accounting, plus three years' related experience.
  • Strong keyboarding skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent knowledge of office procedures and practices are required to maintain accurate and secure files, track and follow-up information/report requests and manage petty cash.

Assets

  • Experience in Yardi Property Management software.
  • Good knowledge of NSPHA policies, procedures and practices is required to respond accurately to inquiries from internal or external sources, applicants, and tenants.

Nova Scotia Provincial Housing Agency (NSPHA) is the provincial government agency responsible for the administration and delivery of affordable housing solutions for low-income Nova Scotians.

We accomplish this by working closely with other levels of government as well as private and community partners.

Across its districts, NSPHA provides more than 11,200 safe, affordable homes as part of its Housing Services to seniors and families. District offices manage the day-to-day operations of Nova Scotia's housing stock. Their responsibilities include administering tenant applications and placements, collecting rent, resolving tenant issues, and maintaining and repairing properties.
