UNB REDS Athletics

The University of New Brunswick REDS are the non-academic unit within the Faculty of Kinesiology. Through athletics and recreation programming, they strive to be national leaders in wellness, sport, and recreation excellence. The REDS also lead many internal and external general events across various facilities in hopes of being engaged within our community.

WHAT WE OFFER

Full-time | 3 Year Term | Fredericton | On-Campus

Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 8:15 am - 4:30 pm | 36.25 hours per week

Additional Working Conditions:

  • This position involves working many evenings and weekends in addition to a significant amount of travel.

Salary Range: $58,098 - $79,182 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Men's Hockey Head Coach, the associate coach will support the student-athlete experience, development, recruitment, and retention for the men's hockey team.

  • Assist with the daily practice planning and implementation of individual training plans.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of team playing systems.
  • Create a detailed strategy for each game and practice.
  • Assist in various video-based tasks.
  • Lead administrative tasks associated with the team.
  • Assist with recruitment and retention of student-athletes.
  • Work with the head coach in creating and implementing recruitment strategies.
  • Support the organization of team activities and travel logistics.
  • Assist with the organization and execution of fundraising and community service events.
  • Contact and foster relationships with potential student-athletes and UNB REDS Men's Hockey Alumni.
  • Aid players with their academic commitments.
  • Lead and assist in UNB Hockey Camps as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or the REDS Director of Athletics.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • A University Degree in a related field.
  • Two years of experience in U SPORTS and/or NCAA playing and/or coaching.
  • A combination of equivalent education and experience will be considered.

Additional Strengths

  • Coaching certification NCCP Level HP 1, or equivalent, is preferred.
  • Self-motivated and possess the ability to recruit, teach and coach highly talented student-athletes.
  • Ability to regularly evaluate and provide player feedback.
  • Prior experience with recruiting and video breakdown preferred.
  • Evidence of a strong work ethic and high level of integrity and honesty.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
