Do you love working as an integral part of the team that designs and gets product into production? We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technologist to work within our Engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Component selection, design, construction, testing and evaluation of circuits, sub-assemblies and systems;

Producing design documentation including writing detailed specifications of parts and products;

Analysis: including thermal analysis using Solidworks, utilizing thermal and airflow principles;

Creating schematics and drawings for equipment design and design changes;

Working with design specifications to make products work more efficiently;

Working with the Production team regarding suitable manufacturing techniques;

Working with team members to interpret design requirements and may assist in first builds;

Inspecting and reviewing prototypes, vendor types and assembled pieces for fit specifications and measurements;

Assisting in developing solutions to design and field queries;

In addition, the role may require the sourcing of substitute parts for use in production; resolution of manufacturing difficulties; provision of technical information; resolution of problems in Test; creation and maintenance of job sheets, and the job-holder may be involved in hands-on assembly or prototyping.

What you'll need

Qualifications

Individuals should have:

A minimum of five years experience in a similar role;

Prior experience utilizing a 3D design package, prior experience using Solidworks would be an asset;

Extensive knowledge of materials and their expected performance metrics;

Prior experience with sheet metal fabrication/machining would be an asset;

Ability to analyse static and dynamic mechanical problems;

A working knowledge of thermal and airflow principles;

A good working knowledge of current industry practices, CAD, DOS and third-party software;

Attention to detail and a focus on quality;

A continuous improvement mindset;

Excellent organizational and analytical skills;

The ability to work well within a team, and communicate effectively across the organization, as well as the ability to work independently to meet deadlines.
