Emergency Medical Care Inc. (EMC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Medavie Health Services that manages and operates ground ambulance, air medical transport and the medical communications operations in Nova Scotia through a performance-based contract with the provincial government's Emergency Health Services (EHS) division and the Department of Health and Wellness. As well, EMC operates TeleHealth 811 Mental Health and Addictions for Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island for the Department of Health. 

EMC delivers a high-quality pre-hospital care program and Telehealth service to Nova Scotians each and every day. We achieve this through the more than 1,400 employees who work with us including highly-trained paramedics, nurses, medical communication officers and support staff.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

The position entails, but is not limited to the following:

· Load the Logistics truck, deliver medical supplies to any given EMC base, per established schedule

· Transport ambulances to designated Fleet Centres and/or stations, as assigned.

· Ensure vehicles that are transported to bases are washed down of road debris

· Operate all system and company vehicles in accordance with Nova Scotia laws as well as all applicable Policies and Procedures of EMC and EHS

· Interact professionally at all times with EMC and EHS stakeholders

Qualifications

Qualifications and Requirements:

· Nova Scotia Class 4 Driver's License (in good standing order)

· WHMIS certification

· Effective oral and written communication skills.

· Must possess and demonstrate good interpersonal skills in dealing with people and working in groups.

· Ability to work alone with minimal supervision. Exercises a degree of discretion and independent judgment.

· Ability to work irregular work schedules

· Ability to sit/drive for periodic long stretches of time

· Willing to complete the EMC Driving Safety Program

· Willing to complete the orientation program as defined for the role specific to Safety Programs including PPE and Safe Work Practice Policies
