Kraken Robotic Systems Inc. is expanding its Marine Survey Group and is looking for a Manager for its growing marine services business. We seek a self-motivated, team-oriented technical and project manager with strong communication skills and a background in marine survey and/or geosciences. Our ideal candidate will have proven experience as a Senior Marine Surveyor or Marine Survey Manager who understands client requirements, the tools and processes that are available, and can define best-in-class processes and procedures.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

  • Develop the strategy and execution of the Survey Group business plan. This includes identifying resource requirements and building out a strong team which is currently comprised of a small group of field techs and data processors.
  • Be involved in all aspects of Kraken's marine service projects including (but not limited to) bid estimation, proposal preparation, field surveys, equipment maintenance, project support, client interaction, contributing to report writing and report reviews.
  • Ensure integrity of geodetic control is maintained for all projects, and within agreed error budgets.
  • Oversee development and maintenance of standard operating procedures, survey procedures.
  • Review and approval of mobilization and calibration reports

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • Five or more years' experience as a Senior Surveyor or Survey Manager in the Marine Survey industry.
  • Candidates should have an applicable Bachelor or Master's Degree in a Marine Science related discipline. Specific course work in marine geology, coastal geology, geophysics, sedimentology, hydrography, oceanography and GIS/CAD will be considered a major plus.
  • Proficient with a variety of Marine Survey field concepts, practices, procedures and equipment operations. This includes knowledge in the installation, calibration, operation, post processing, analysis, and QA/QC of geophysical systems (i.e., SAS, Laser Metrology, MBES, SSS, SBP, Mag, GPS, MRU, USBL). Experience with underwater robotics surveys (AUVS/ROVS) will be considered a major plus.
  • Experience can include working on projects related to marine construction, pipeline/cable route design, civil engineering (ports, harbors, bridges etc.), offshore oil and gas, offshore renewable energy (wind and tide).
  • An ability and willingness to travel periodically including spending time at sea.
  • A strong commitment to personal safety and the safety of others.
  • A self-motivated team player with excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to communicate with people of different backgrounds and cultures.
