The Opportunity
Our primary goals as a pension administration and investment management organization are to safeguard our Plan members' pensions and ensure the stability and security of the Fund. To help us reach those goals, we're looking for a Manager of Public Markets to join our team. Reporting to the Vice-President, Investments, the Manager of Public Markets will play a critical role in manager selection and oversight through designing, building, and overseeing the externally managed public market investment strategy and monitoring program. The successful candidate will apply their knowledge of asset management and market risks to complete investment manager due diligence, and support the VP in continuously evolving Provident10's Investment Strategy to meet industry best practices.
Your key activities will include:
- Research and recommend active management strategies, while ensuring compliance with Provident10's investment policy.
- Develop a publics research agenda and library related to prospective investment managers and pertinent due diligence matters (e.g. ESG)
- Integrate the publics research and oversight program into Provident10's ESG framework
- Lead the search and selection process for new investment managers across various asset classes.
- Prepare and present manager selection and termination recommendation reports.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive public market investment manager due diligence and monitoring program
- Support the Vice President in managing, mentoring and developing the Investment team to build and retain the talent of the organization.
- Contribute to periodic asset liability modelling studies.
- Monitor market and investment industry trends to identify operating efficiencies and process enhancements.
- Prepare detailed due diligence documents and deliver quarterly reports to the Investment Committee
What you'll bring to the role:
- A bachelor's degree in finance or related field supplemented by a relevant professional designation.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in an investment setting at a pension fund or asset management firm. Equivalent combinations of experience and education will be considered.
- Experience in external public markets manager selection in both investments and operational due diligence
- Strong understanding of capital markets and portfolio management.
- Ability to adapt to new challenges and recommend innovative solutions.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to prioritize.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a small team, or independently.
Salary Range: $94,700 - $132,700

Provident10
