Due to our evolving needs, we have a new opportunity for a Manager, Marketing & Communications to join our team of Marketing and Communications professionals. 

The Role:

This position supports the Director, Marketing and Communications in the proactive management of all communications and marketing strategies, internal and external, including issues management, brand management, media relations, marketing, digital strategy and communications planning. You'll identify opportunities to enhance and deliver marketing and communications programs on behalf of Events East, its business areas and priority projects.

What you'll do

Responsibilities

Provide communications counsel and support to business area leaders to establish understanding of marketing initiatives and ensure consistent brand execution, including communications planning, project management and liaison with external partners/suppliers.

Proactively identify strategic opportunities to enhance Events East marketing and communications activities.

Manage our integrated digital strategy across multiple platforms (website, social media, digital signage, email, inbound marketing, etc) including evaluation and insight analysis, content strategy development, and incorporating best practices.

Supervise marketing and communications team; provide leadership, support and guidance to deliver projects.

Strategic management of multi-faceted marketing and advertising campaigns including supplier, budget and timeline management, measurement against business objectives and stakeholder engagement.

Support media relations activities including development of responses, issues management, spokesperson preparation and liaison with partners.

Support stakeholder and shareholder relations communications activities including development of briefing material, research and issues management.

What you'll need

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in public relations, communications or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience delivering quality integrated marketing and communications solutions.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Relevant experience formulating and implementing communications strategies including media relations, website development/digital strategy, social media and multi-media marketing communications campaigns.
  • Superior project management skills with demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Experience managing suppliers and partners, including timelines, deliverable and budgets.
  • Confidence in evaluating options and making strong recommendations on proposed solutions.

Events East

We manage and operate the Halifax Convention Centre, Scotiabank Centre and Ticket Atlantic. Created as part of a government partnership between the Province of Nova Scotia and Halifax Regional Municipality, we work in collaboration with them to manage our business in a responsible and transparent manner.

We were established in 2014 through legislation to operate, maintain and manage the activities of the Halifax Convention Centre in a manner that will promote and develop economic development, tourism and industry in the Province generally, and the Municipality.

Effective April 1, 2017, our mandate expanded to include the continued management and operations of Scotiabank Centre and Ticket Atlantic, formerly under Trade Centre Limited (TCL).
