Position: Manager, Maintenance & Operations (APC)

Department: Facilities Management

Annual Salary: $78,740 - $101,478 (Group 8)

Under the general direction of the Senior Director, Facilities Management, the Manager, Maintenance & Operations is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the electrical and mechanical systems, the maintenance of the buildings to provide safe, high quality physical facilities for staff, students and faculty on the University Campus, the operation and maintenance of the three Heating Plants, two Chiller Plants, Arena, emergency generators and associated equipment systems.

Responsibilities

The Manager holds the position of Chief Power Engineer for the Heating Plants and Chief Operator for the Arena Plant ensuring all relevant codes and acts are followed in accordance with the N.S. Department of Labour and Advanced Education. The Manager is also responsible for the maintenance of the grounds, minor building repairs, the energy conservation program and the operation of the Facilities Maintenance Management System. The Manager further acts as the University's Fire Marshal and on behalf of the Senior Director, Facilities Management during the Senior Director's absence from campus.

Qualifications

To be the successful Manager, Maintenance & Operations you will possess an Engineering Degree with five (5) years' experience plus a 4th class Stationary Engineer's Certificate or the ability to acquire the designation within 12 months OR a Certified trade with five (5) years' experience plus a 4th class Stationary Engineer's Certificate with five (5) years' related experience in addition to a minimum of three (3) years' Supervisory experience. Knowledge and experience of building systems and maintenance; the ability to work in a team environment; ability to manage budgets; and knowledge of construction management will ensure your success in this position. Dedication to relationship management and effective customer service skills are essential. This position requires the incumbent to be available to take emergency calls, 24 hours per day.
